Significant recent injuries around the league: Jaromir Jagr (leg),
Mario Lemieux (hip),
Mike Peca (concussion), Scott Mellanby (broken jaw), Scott Neidermayer (back) ...
Dengue solution
OKay, the State of Hawaii needs to get wise and underwrite the purchase of a shitload of these things:
The Mosquito Magnet is an ingenius device that uses propane to create a CO2-rich gas plume (simulating the living creatures
mosquitoes thrive on). This plume attracts the buggers to the outlet spout, where there are sucked up by a fan motor. They claim to
be able to collapse entire populations of skeeters if used properly ... and the dead bugs make good fish food, to boot!
Osama skinnage
Two people actually submitted this, Gspot and Mafioso: Somewhat unsurprisingly, Osama bin Laden skins
are showing up in various FPSes. Take out your frustrations virtually, I guess. But what if the Osama player kicks your ass? They've even got one for the Sims.
Osama again ...
Speaking of the O man himself .... Wired has an article about
the Osama and Bert image (of Bert is Evil fame) showing up at
an anti-American rally. Apparently the sign in question is a collage of images of bin Laden found around the Web. Kind of funny, that. This one also from two readers,
Mafioso and Schala.
B-board
Wot's this? A BMW skateboard, is all. Believe it or not,
it includes steering technology found in BMW motorcars. From Gspot.
Wonderful
LONDON (Reuters) -- First came the Wonderbra. Now comes the Wonderbum -- a new product that "lifts,
separates and shapes" the parts other tights don't reach.
I wonder how long before this thing hits our shores?

Looks like I get to keep my MCSE after all. Lot of good it did me.
I'm so bad I should be in detention
See what the group Anthrax has to say about being associated with a deadly bacteria. At least they weren't full wusses
and changed their name or something.
It's a pimp, hat
Get your very own Pimp Hat right here.
Router love
Plug it in and it works, how much simpler of a review could it be. I actually have one of these routers
and it basically is that simple. Check out LWD's review of the Dlink DI-704 here.
For the truly twisted
Only for the really demented. Don't say you weren't warned. Read some chat logs here.

Droppin' bombs on yo' moms
Well you might have been hearing of some "5,000 lb bombs" or Bunker-busters being dropped on Afghanistan these days.
Here's the lowdown on them, the GBU-28 penetrating bomb.
While they are 5,000lbs total weight, they consist of about 600lbs of explosive -- get this -- inside a cannon barrel! Yeah that's right, it's basically
a precision-guided, loaded cannon. How cool is that? Thanks to Gspot for the link.
Speaking of Detonators ...
There was a time when NVIDIA would release a new official driver set only very rarely, and the pace was far outstripped
by the "leaked" versions. But these days, they are releasing official drivers like madmen. Case in point ...
the 21.83 detonators, fresh for your perusal. This just
about a month after the official release of the 21.81 Detonator XP.
Catch
This device would have probably been a little more cool in days past, when broadband wasn't the ultimate solution to this problem.
Catch-a-call allows you to catch calls while online via modem using
the phone company's call-waiting system.
WInamp Beta 3
Winamp Beta 3 is avaliable for download. Haven't tried it yet.

I forgot who sent me this, but it was good for a few yuks.
Iced
Well, it was only a matter of time before the Icy Hot Stuntaz were
the victims of some Photoshopping. But I must say, this site is really
well-done. The text is even "in the style of" pretty faithfully.
The fap is back
Leave it to Tef to find Sexy Losers by Hard, which looks, um, surprisingly
a lot like another comic that once happened to be online. Aw heck it, it IS that same fappingly good comic,
now in color. The author doesn't seem to want to mention the old strip, but rest assured -- it's all still there (and some might say better than ever).
Name that item
Does that thing above look familiar? Think you know what it is? Lots of people thought so too.
The truth is
a little different, but just as bizzare. Found by Tef. The article, not the item.
Yet another
Yet another Flash site from Gspot: Dark Clownz does
modern computer gaming parodies. Kind of funny stuff, especially if you've played Counterstrike or Quake before.
Rogue Ballin'
It was only logical that someone mod Rogue Spear out with a paintball theme. Psycho Paintball
does just that, complete with real guns and JT jerseys. There are even Sup 'Air fields to play on, etc. I haven't tried it yet, perhaps
one day I shall. Lord knows it has to be better than Extreme Paintbrawl (is that the best
review ever or what?!).
Oh yeah you can't download Psycho Paintball from that page, you have to get it here.

Pure, 100% moo.
Beef
A man's (is there any doubt that the author is a guy) shrine to that most wonderful of foodstuffs, Beef.
Bible by the block
I guess since there was Star Wars in Lego, and Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail in Lego, I guess
it was only a matter of time until someone did a Bible Lego.
Jedi-ism
Jedi Knights have gained official recognition as a religion in the UK Census 2001.
Coming very near the bottom of an official list of religions put out by the Statistics Office, Jedi Knight is known by the code 896. Heathen comes in at 897. Followed by Atheist at 898 and lastly None with 899.

Pic of the day
From Tef: Great Peugeot ad. Click for larger version.
Atlas shrug
And now for your educational benefit, the Ocean Atlas of Hawaii,
complete with all kinds of scientific data that you would never think you'd want to know.
Dough
Yet another Flash cartoon from Gspot -- Doughface.
It's only got one episode for now, but it's worth a look.
Canon's S40
Canon has released the latest S-series camera, the S40, a 4-megapixel, 35-105mm zoom compact camera. It's essentially a consumerized version
of the G2, with the same basic imaging system in an almost-all metal case reminiscent of
the Elphs.
Check out the DPReview here.
Documenting the BBS
If you are oldschool like Penfold and to a slightly lesser degree myself, you will have an appreciation for this project:
the BBS documentary is a project being undertaken by the individual who runs
textfiles.com (a clearinghouse site for all those text files that used to run around bulletin boards back in the day before
Web pages were invented). This guy wants to preserve the BBS era on film before it's gone forever, a noble task to be sure.
Ah yes, the days of tweaking your modem settings to dial faster so you could get that line ...

MLS TMK
I've been meandering the web in search of the perfect place, and came across sites from MLS and TMK info
and other strange things here.

Carquest Cah Show
My pics kind of suck, but here they are. I find #4 the most interesting ... a purpose-built mudbog Toyota truck with a
bigblock (Chevy I believe) engine practically in the driver's lap. My vote for best in show is the last car. You kind of had to be
there to appreciate it, but it was very clean and not all that gaudy.
Funny
Gspot has been getting after me to post this page for a while. Funnyazhell has some
odd death-themed animations that are really more gross than funny. Go figure.
Spam justice
Would that all spammers meet a fate such as this or worse.
