No pics with today's stories, couldn't find any good one.
MX DDR
Now that would rock, a geforce2 MX with DDR. If that gets you all excited, check out the story here.
I have to classify this a mere rumor as this is the only place reporting this.
So How was School Today?
To the question, "How was school today?" 68 percent of participants responded "fine," while 18 percent answered "good" and 10 percent "okay." The remaining 4 percent replied with a shrug.
I remember my mom trying the same thing with me and essentially getting the same answer.
Hit up the full story here.
Even more odd, my mother went to school with Raul's mom. Man this is a tiny rock.
Why the Star Bulletin is the Superior Newspaper
You think the Honolulu Advertiser would publish something like this?
The Department of Public Service actually is looking for suggestions on how to implement the state's new medical marijuana law for the benefit of patients. The rules also are supposed to help the police differentiate between those toking up for medical reasons and those toking up for the hell of it.
The department is not looking to stroll down memory lane -- a SHORT lane for many old-time pot smokers -- to get tips from former dopers.
Hit up (pun intended) the full column here. Charles Memminger is the man.

Up there is a little scene from the Goth Hunting page.
And here is Goth for Dummies. Animated GIFs are the medium in
this little
"theatrical" collection. Kind of amusing; worth a gander.
Thank the Lemur
and her black outfits for those.
News from the rink
We're heading for the cup. Been trying 2 locked players on the same team, works
surprisingly well.
We had to take a little break though, and discovered just how fun it can actually be to
roust the CPU for the hell of it.
Pr0n, again
STRASBOURG, France (Reuters) -- Eighteen technicians at a factory in France have been suspended after
pornographic e-mail they were exchanging at work ended up in the inbox of a female executive at a television network in the
United States.

Here's a band with a cool name: Grand Moff Tarkin.
I must say they really go all out on the costumes. Don't know about the music though.

Coming soon to a room of exile near you, my new flower vase, has a nice frog on the side. Looks a lot like Yoshi's vase.
PS2 -- What's the Big Frickin' Deal?
This is an editorial put out by the Daily Radar's PC division. I'm sure
the PS side of daily radar would have something to day about it. Read the editorial here.
I smell an interoffice tourney at the Daily Radar.
Want to OC your Geforce2 MX? This review may be able to clue you in. Check it out here.
I may try this one day once I'm in Manoa.
"Microsoft Security", like "Military Intelligence"
Sounds like Microsoft itself got hacked by a worm recently. Microsoft has been quick to deny that any virii or trojans have made it into the source code.
But my sources say that some bad code did make it in. (Bad code, isn't that SOP?)
Brought to you by you friends at the hackernetwork.com.
Nooooo, My Eyes
Speaking of getting hacked, looks like some disgruntled Mets fan engaged in some self help. You can try and check it out yourself at yankees.com.
If it's down or back to normal, consider yourself lucky. Read the Register article about it here. The Register description doesn't do justice to the pic.

Yeah I'm a little behind the times, but I started checking out Heavy Metal FAKK2. Hmm there's something
about this game that is keeping my interest. I don't know what it is.
There's just something about the words turbo V-8 musclecar that
is very near and dear to my heart. Almost brought a tear to my eye. Then I looked at the bill.
Heads up for NHL2001 for PC: Patch #2 is up, use the Check for Update feature to download it.
THURSDAY, 10/29/2000, 1:58ap HST by Penfold The "Mega News Bomb" Edition
Raul and I are both off today, so you get the mega dose of news content.
My stuff from Outpost.com is here. Free overnight shipping is way cool.
Starting off with some nice visual content, see hackernetwork.com's bastardization of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace here.
For those of you who think ICQ 2000a is too unwieldy (Raul, I'm looking at you), check out this article here that tells you how to strip down a icq200a install.
IMHO, there's nothing wrong with 2000a, but the new default makes it seem like MS Messenger and some people can't figure out how to change it back to classic icq mode. Think I'm wrong? Shove an email up here.
How Many Triangles can Fit on the Head of a Pin?
Alvy Ray Smith, one of the pioneers of computer graphics now toiling away at Microsoft's research lab), told
Howard Rheingold that "reality is eighty million polygons a second." To re-create scenes indistinguishable from reality,
the computer needs to send that many of the tiny triangles to the screen.
This is a comment from an article about the PS2, though I doubt that the PS2 will ever really challenge a high end PC no matter how hard Sony hypes it. Hit up the full story here.
Macster in the House
There is now an official Napster client for macs available. Strangely enough, it looks just like Macster.
Our server logs are showing that some of you are using Macs, so go get it.
Sex Content of the Day
Well, it's not really sex contnet, but it's close enough for government work.

Conservatives, fool!
GOP vice presidential candidate Dick Cheney admitted he is affiliated with a gang known as the South Side
Conservatives, and flashed his sign during a news conference yesterday. "Yea, that's right, fool," Cheney said. "Conservatives
muthafucka!"
PS2, Cheap!
Here's an actual Ebay auction page that we have mirrored to last past the 30 day limit.
Gee, do ya think that's a real bid? I do hear, though, that PS2s are selling for $700 or more these days. All the more reason
to buy a PC.
On another note, I did a special centerpiece on the PS2 in today's Advertiser, and on B7 is the picture below.
It's Kazuo Hirai, president and CEO of Sony America watching two assorted geeks try out a PS2. Take a close look at what game
they are playing. Ahh, I love editorial discretion.
Gee, I didn't even know there was a GM China. Shanghai GM
seems to specialize in Buick cars, including the Buick Xin Shi Ji. Above is GM China's latest offering, the name of which eludes
me right now. It is a subcompact designed for a decidedly less ritzy clientelle than the Opels, Cadillacs, Buicks and Chevrolet SUVs that
seem to be the mainstay of GM China's sales.
Two pounds? Holy shit!
San Andreas, CA -- On Monday, Calaveras County supervisors approved a plan, by a 3-2 vote, to allow medical marijuana patients with a doctor's recommendation to
legally possess up to two pounds of marijuana and cultivate up to six plants without fear of local prosecution.
I tried really hard to come up with a funny joke about jumping frogs and weed, but I couldn't. Feh.

Smoke in your eyes
Don't these idiots know anything about Web design? Not just
ONE popup window, not TWO, heck, not even FIVE. There are TWELVE FUCKING POPUPS in the intro to this page. F U C K Y O U ! ! !

Here's a little column on Daily Radar that goes on about NHL 2001.
This guy thinks he's all hardcore because he's been playing NHL since 95. Piffle! I played 93 bitch! 2D sprites baby! And I could follow the NHL jokes
in Swingers.
Speaking of NHL jokes ...
I swear I did not create this graphic. It moved over the AP wire today. Apparently, the PR folks for the Columbus Blue Jackets
made this up to promote franchise awareness.
Beat Bush
Well whaddya know, George W. Bush is the son of a bitch of the month at
sonofabitch.com. Gives a nice summary of why you shouldn't vote for Bush. Here's our summary:
Spice is nice
LONDON (Reuters) -- The curry has long been Britain's favorite ethnic food and now scientists have found out why --
the spices are addictive.
Hit up the full story here.
Hmm, all of a sudden, I have a powerful lust for curry.
For you Nvts
There are some new NVIDIA demos out. I'll get ahold of them soon and post
screenshots.
Here's a Littlewhitedog bit on modifying start button text. They sent
this to us a while ago, but I'm only getting around to posting it now. What sickens me is the number of people who went and made some lame ass
[H]ardOCP start button and submitted it to Kyle. MAKE YOUR OWN FUCKIN SITE YOU LUSERS! Good thing our site's name is too long to fit on the button.
And finally tonight ...
At last, some straight up TRUTH in the presidential campaign.

Yes we have be remiss in posting content, but I blame it all on Raul.
Sort of Sex Content for the Day
Sex sells. It even sells fried chicken. Getting right down to the point,
Blasphemer
How could any self respecting computer person recommend doing this.
Must be an AOLuser.
How many FPS can I get OCing my Chair?
What happens when you let a hardware reviewer compare office chairs? Probably this.
More acronyms that even the Federal Government.
Intel or Apple? The Money is the Same
Have you seen the new intel ads, the one with those three blue guys? It seems that besides being a threesome, they also go both ways. Read the purient story here.
This thing looks interesting, a keyboard, monitor, mouse switch. I may buy a 4 port one as I am contemplating buying a laptop also, which would make 3 computers. I hope the wiring in the new place can handle all that power. Read the story here.
The music recording industry has been pulling out its hair trying to figure out how to keep people from copying their CDs (which is perfectly legal). They hung their hopes
on SDMI and were so bold to challenge the public to crack the encryption. So it was promptly cracked by multiple sources. Read the story here.
IMHO, it is impossible to do a audio watermark in the audible range that doesn't degrade the sound of the music. If they can't do it in the audio in the audible range, then the watermark system is worthless. Don't understand what I'm talking about, shoot Penfold an email and I'll try and explain it better.

The "We've been slacking, whip us" edition
I know, I know. We've been shortchanging the reader. So bitch us out.
If it's funny enough maybe we'll post it up. I will now proceed to drop the content bomb on your collective ass.
A lil' slice of Asia
Up there are some pics I found of this guy watching Olympic Table Tennis. Click on the strip to see who he was watching.
Don't know much about the guy other than he won the game, and his name is Kong. Thanks AP.
What the puck?
Above we have a cool still frame shot during the 1999 playoffs. Brett hull takes a shot on Dominik Hasek,
in the goal for Buffalo. He scores, and the Stars go to the Stanley Cup. After this they changed rule 78 in the official rules:
A player "in the crease" has to be obstructing or interfering with the goalie in order for the goal to be disallowed. Hull is
clearly standing in the crease here, but the goal was allowed. The league had to change the rule to "save face" after that, the story goes.
Again, thanks AP.
Roy and the law
LITTLETON, Colo. (Reuters) -- The Colorado Avalanche's Patrick Roy, who last week became the winningest goaltender in
National Hockey League history, was in court on Monday after being arrested for an argument with his wife that left two
doors broken in the couple's house.
Sobering news; we have to report the good with the bad. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Hit up the full story

But they were happy monks
BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) -- Two Buddhist monks are suspected of ignoring their vows by belting down drinks and belting out tunes at a karaoke bar, officials said.

Xena, Canned
Our favorite warrior princess got the news today that after six seasons, the show will be canceled. Looks like Lucy Lawless has to find a new job now.
Bet she could get a job singing the national anthem (I'll find a pic of this for your pleasure later). Read the whole story here.
"You know what is canned goods eh, patnah?" -Souza [Posted by Raul]
As Promised
The infamous Lucy Lawless pic of her singing the national anthem at a NHL game in Anaheim. Another reason you should watch hockey.

The posting@work edition
I practically broke my ass trying to fix my car in time for work today, so I am having to post this from newspaper land.
Curses, foiled again!
And I woulda got away with it if it werent for you meddling kids ...
GALLATIN, Tennessee (CNN) -- A 17-year-old Tennessee boy is undergoing psychological evaluations after his mother
uncovered an alleged plan to kill the members of 'N Sync, according to officials.
You know, what's so crazy about wanting to kill N Sync? Too bad he was caught before he could carry out his plan. Next time, he'll
remember not to keep a notebook. Hit up the full story
here.
Chat room saves Scot from drug overdose
NEW YORK -- A Scot was saved from a nasty death by a drug and drink overdose yesterday when a woman in Canada spotted his predicament on an Internet chat-room.
The only reason i posted this story is because when I first read the headline (verbatim here), I thought, "Hey I know a Scott that was saved from drug overdosing by chat rooms..." Hit up the full story
here.
Okay that's it for now, just had to beat the midnite deadline. More postage later ...
