East German walking

Soon to be a thing of the past because of EU standardization, see the unique street lights from the former East Germany here.

Strange things which people have actually written up and and patents issued for.

Sucks donkey balls

How bad does it suck? Is it so bad that it sucks donkey balls? Rant away.

The Gallery is now live. Only one gallery open so far, but more to come.

Mini digi

Cheez

Now that is one tiny digicam. The Spyz cam, aptly manufactured by a company called Che-ez!, is about as mini as they get. It's capable of VGA captures and has 8 MB of built-in memory (sounds familiar). As you can guess, image quality is, to quote a certain Mililani resident, "Birds!"

Here's PC Watch article in Japanese for you Nihongo readers, otherwise here's the company Web page. Check out the other little cameras they make, including the one cutely named "Crakker".

MS plug

MS plug

Here's a solution to a practically nonexistent problem: The Memplug MS allows the use of Sony Memory Sticks in Springboard-slotted Visor PDAs.

The manufacturer, Innogear, is supposedly coming out with models for other media types (CF, MMC, SM), which should be much more useful ...

Font stash

Here are some pretty darn classy and/or well-done fonts at a site called Rotodesign.

Here's more at Fontsnthings.

110101, a very binary day.

Blue bastard

Blue bitch

It looks deceptively simple. Two little gumdrop-looking characters playing what is essentially volleyball. Oh, but Slimeball is so much more devious than that. For such a simple game, the designer has done a wonderful job on the AI, and it will have you at least thinking the title to this article more than once. So far I've only beaten him once.

A hatch

Here's an interesting article on how the Illuminati are responsible for the latest events going on in the world.

Boba fete

Boba

All you wanted to know about the drink called boba, or bubble tea. And more. Still more.

Ball muncher

It's an apt description for those that would find these recipes useful. That's right, it's how to prepare testicles of every kind.

Short one today.

Bear witness

Witness

To quote Tef, who submitted this work of art, "Witness the Weakness!"

Domi beef

CJ has posted the infamous Flyers' fan falling into the penalty box with Tie Domi video. CJ, so beware the pr0n ads at work.

If the local tourist industry had paid attention to the kama'aina market before 9/11, maybe I'd actually consider vacationing in Hawaii rather than the great white north.

Brute force hack

Some applications to help you ferret out lost (yeah right) passwords for files. Check them out here.

No kidding

WASHINGTON, Oct. 25 -- Caffeine can help decrease reaction time and improve performance for military servicemen who must perform complex tasks or who need help staying alert for longer periods of time, according to a new report by the National Academy of Sciences.
As someone who starts work every day with 44 oz. of Diet Pepsi, all I can say is no shit Sherlock. Hit up the full story here.

Shroom hunters

Wild mushroom pickers in the Czech republic say prostitutes are offering them oral sex in the woods.

They're apparently offering the service for £6 a time behind trees in north Bohemia's woodland.

Makes me want to go sneaking off to hunt for the infamous Hawaii cow shit shrooms. Read up the full story here.

CM watch

Konishiki ad

Here's a cool site for all you Nipponophiles, or folk looking for entertainment 15 seconds at a time ... CM-Watch catalogs noteworthy Japanese TV commercials, in the eyes of a couple of Gaijin living in Japan.

Up there is Konishiki pitching Daihatsus.

Pontifex

I just downloaded the demo for Pontifex, the latest game to win the Firingsquad Editor's Choice Award. It's a bridge-building simulator. We'll see if it's all that.

Eco shoot, part 2

Eco shoot 2

Well Rob Galbraith has posted part 2 of his look at shooting the 2001 Eco Challenge in New Zealand. There's a gallery in there that's definitely worth a look. Goes to show what talented photogs can do with professional equipment.

Now if only the D1X would suddenly become affordable ...

Paint the moon, revisited

Well they tried to paint the moon, but it didn't really work. So they're going to try again. Check the site for details.

Egghead died

A prime example of what happens when you fuck with us (grin) .... Egghead.com has suspended operations and is officially an ex-retailer. Visit their site to read their pathetic little note.

Gentlemen, start your belts

One step beyond lawn motor racing, now rednecks of the world can try out belt-sander racing.

Amen brother

Poor brother, I feel his pain. Read it and understand a guy's pain.

E-20 full review at DPReview

Oly E-20

The Olympus E-20 full review has dropped like a bomb over at DPReview, and as an E-10 owner feel the disappointment. Check out the aftermath here in the DPR forums.

Hockey news

Pittsburgh Penguins owner, captain, CEO and resident superstar Mario Lemieux underwent surgery today on his injured hip and will be out 3 to 4 weeks. Martin Straka, about the only true Pens star left with Alexei Kovalev and Lemieux out, broke his leg Sunday and is out indefinitely. Ouch for Pitt.

The LA Kings are suffering from injuries also: with defenseman Aaron Miller already on the IR, scoring forward Ziggy Palffy was also placed on IR today. So far their biggest (and newest star), Jason Allison, is holding up.

I can't believe I chicked out yesterday and bought not one, but two pairs of shoes.

Hockey times for the week of 10.28

If this don't solve itself soon, someone is going to have to get DirecTV and NHL Center Ice.

Yuppie excess

Someone better stop me before I yuppie out too hard. A humidor and cigars, now that's kinda excessive.
