TA endorsements

(Moved up from Penfold's post) As a service to those of you out there who live in Hawaii, TA presents our endorsement for the general election 2002.

  • Governor/Lieutenant Governor: Mazie and Matt, because the alternative is far worse than the status quo could even dream of being.
  • U.S. Representative, District 1, Urban Honolulu: Neil, because everyone loves a good old-fashioned flaming liberal.
  • U.S. Representative, District 2, Rural Honolulu and neighbor islands: Patsy, because dead is better than dumb.
  • State Constitutional Amendments: #1 - No, #2 - Yes, #3 - No.
  • Charter Amendment: No opinion. Flip a coin.

D-Barb

Dbarb

I've been on a fishing jones lately, so here's some fishing content. The D-Barb is a device designed to help remove hoots from gut-hooked fish. It's like a compound cutter with magnets near the blades to catch the barb portion of the hook that you clip off.

Bad news

Badcookie

Here's another mildly amusing but ultimately useless Web toy: Badcookie doles out negative fortunes like they were going out of style. From Nu.

The dredge

The area between Ala Moana Boulevard bridge and the McCully Street bridge was cleared of 15,000 cubic yards of sediment and debris, according to the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.

The second phase involves dredging between the McCully Street bridge and 600 feet beyond the Manoa-Palolo drainage canal.

American Marine Corp., the state contractor for the project, will dredge to a depth of 10 feet and expects to remove 140,000 cubic yards of sediment.

This is why the part from the ocean to Mccully was so fast, it was LESS than 10% of the crap. I wonder if the canal will really start to stank now, Hit up the full story here.
