My city

Tantapano

The first pano taken with my E-1. Handheld (!), 7-image vertical pano. Taken at 14mm with the 14-54mm lens. Stiched with Panorana Factory. Click to enlarge.

My ongoing, but currently modest, gallery of E-1 images can be found here. Test images can be found here.

Shooter

Pow!

There are no words to describe how messed-up, literally, this game is.

RIP Oolong

Poor oolong

This happend a while ago, but since I posted about him earlier, Oolong, the bunny that was so mellow his owner could stack things on his head, has died. Mouse over the images for some text.

Cornershot

Cornershot

This is such a no-brainer idea, you wonder why it wasn't thought of earlier. The Cornershot is a weapon system that mounts a pistol and a video camera on a gun stock, and uses a small LCD screen to enable the user to shoot around corners. Just don't get surprised by someone rushing around the corner, I guess!

The military, Republican-style

So just how is the DoD pulling off Iraq with an ever-dwindling troop force? Why, by privatizing almost everything but direct combat duties, using civilian contractors which, conveniently, both increases profits for Bush administration cronies and obscures the true costs in terms of money and lives. The interesting part of this article, IMHO, is that the US privateers may be the second-largest force in-country -- surpassing even the British contingent! This story got remarkably little play in US media, particularly broadcast outlets.

By the by, if you want a real tally of the cost of Iraq, check this ongoing chart, link courtesy Dr. Mikee.

IQ

This is one of the better IQ tests I've taken. It's supposedly culturally blind, using diagrams and pattern-recognition to measure intelligence. Some of the ones toward the end just busted my brain. I had a beer tonight and scored a 122. Not quite Mensa caliber, I'm afraid. Maybe I'm too impatient.
