Hockey post
From left to right:
- Saves like these made Byron Dafoe a major player in the
Bruins' 4-3 victory over the NJ Devils
yesterday in overtime. The puck is going over the top of the net after Dafoe's deflection.
- A random check shot from the Sharks vs. Stars game yesterday.
Richard Jackman gets a stick in the face as San Jose Sharks right wing Matt Bradley goes over the wall into the Stars bench in the first period in Dallas
yesterday.
- This isn't really news, but here's a pic of San Jose Sharks' goalie Evgeni Nabokov,
who has been making quite a stir as one of the best rookie goalies this year. San Jose beat St. Louis in OT
today, which we watched on the TVs at Costco hehe.

Rice racing on Salon
MILPITAS, Calif. -- If you have never experienced the rush of accelerating to 110 mph in a Mazda RX-7, here is a
quick primer: First, you are walloped by a hollow sensation in the bottom of your belly. The shock of acceleration presses you
back into the curve of the leather bucket seat, your head tilted back against the headrest. You feel compelled to grab the
handle of the door, hoping for some solid reassurance that the pavement has not just become liquid beneath your wheels. You
can't decide whether to hold your breath or laugh in giddy exhilaration.
All I can think is that this person has never been in a car with a real pair of cojones. But who knows?

Pic of the day
A Tokenasians original
Live365 station of the moment
Well broadband has its advantages, and streaming audio from Live365 is one of them. Check out biaggi's old school sh*t from back in the day,
located at 216.32.166.89:13672. Copy that number and add it as a URL in Winamp, or go to Live365 and
search for biaggi as a broadcaster.
P.S. His playlist is kinda short, and we have to forgive him for the N2Deep and Snoop Dogg covers. But heck, pop crap back in the day
is worlds better than everything today.
Mr. Greenfingers
I can always count on my man Alan Greenspan to come through for me. You thought this sillyness was over eh?
Digital add
This is scary. Apparently, the same technology that draws the yellow first-down line can be used to digitally add ads onto
football broadcasts, as evidenced by the PVI ad between the goalposts in this shot.
Not only scary, but likely to incite a revolt among red-blooded American football watchers everywhere.

Gong xi fa cai
Lunarcy
So yesterday afternoon, there was a lion dance at work. It was a pretty decent sized production, starting off with a string of
firecrackers outside (sounded like a 10 or 20k tau), as you can see by the number of people covering their ears. I must be somewhat
immune after all these years of partying at the cul-de-sac of ill repute, because it didn't seem all that loud to me.
After some preliminaries outside, the lions made their way inside and a pretty
large crowd gathered, normally cubicle-bound people that seemed extra happy to have
a spectacle of this magnitude going on at a normally business-as-usual building.
Anyway, after "feeding" a bit outside, the lions made their way into the art gallery and eventually
through the advertising department. And they even came into the office,
now that's something you don't see too often. Stopped in front of my desk and attracted quite a crowd. The drum and gongs couldn't make it
up the stairs so it was a relatively quiet affair.
Which brings me to the point: happy (belated) Chinese news year everyone, go get drunk or something. I had to go to Kobe and have
a few drinks to celebrate.
Hockey post
Above, there's just something about Blues games and people getting checked into the bench.
In NHL news: Dallas Stars' backup goalie Marty Turco went very cold in the first 2000 Stanley Cup rematch yesterday in Dallas,
allowing 4 goals on 7 shots in the first and being yanked as New Jersey
defeated Dallas 4-1.
Mario Lemieux had a natural hat trick
in the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens yesterday.

"RR day" +1
I finally gave in to the dark side and got Road Runner installed. Verizon couldn't give me DSL service, so I'm "stuck"
with the evil RR. That means that *gasp* people can actually call me on the phone now! Not like anyone will after all these
years of tied up phone line, but it's something to keep in mind.
Twelve camel toes!
This reminds me of that ESPN commercial series, about the sports you care about. Apparently in Turkey,
camel wrestling is a popular winter sporting event. For the PETA people out there,
camels supposedly naturally fight over their females, so the Turks organize such competitions and watch.
Above, that's Crazy Camel and The Light wrestling in front of female camel, Emine, right.
This was Sunday during Turkey's largest camel wrestling festival in the Aegean town of Selcuk.

Stonin' without burnin'
San Francisco, CA -- Medical marijuana patients may be able to protect themselves from harmful toxins in marijuana smoke
by inhaling their medicine using an electric vaporizer, according to initial results of a study by California NORML and
Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS).
The study showed that it is possible to vaporize medically active tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) by heating marijuana to a
temperature short of the point of combustion, thereby eliminating or substantially reducing potentially harmful smoke
toxins that are normally present in marijuana smoke. Vaporizers may therefore substantially reduce what is widely regarded
as the leading health concern associated with marijuana, namely respiratory harm due to smoking.
This is for SOME PEOPLE who don't believe my theory about not inhaling any smoke.

GW's B
Maybe you've seen these little photoshop jobs that place a short red plastic (IMHO POS) bong in GWB's hands. Well here's the guy's
homepage.
Hockey news
St. Louis Blues defenseman and captain Chris Pronger, above, will be missing 4-6 weeks following
arthroscopic surgery today to repair
damaged cartilege in his knee. The Blues are already out star forward Pavol Demitra and have been in a slump as of late. They
are now 5 points behind the league-leading Colorado Avalanche, though they still retain second-best overall record.
In other hockey news: Philadelphia Flyers' star winger John Leclair will be out 6-8 more weeks
due to an infection in his back. Leclair has played only 8 games this season for Philly.
Akebono retires
Hawaii-born yokozuna (grand-champion) Akebono, in a 1997 file photo above,
announced Monday that he will retire from sumo
due to a recurring knee injury. Akebono was the first non-Japanese-born wrestler to achieve sumo's highest rank. He won 11 Emperor's
Cups in his career, including one in his last tournament in November, when he turned in a 14-1 performance.

Baring it for the trees again
Saltspring Island resident Briony Penn rode down a Vancouver street in the buff Monday, along with about 20 island residents
and supporters who were protesting logging on their island. Sounds familiar eh? Funny thing is, she's doing an interview
by cell phone in this shot.
The Holiday Cue story
Dino reports that he
heard on the local news before that Holiday Cue did indeed get shut down due to "illegal activities on premises". I searched both
local paper Web sites and couldn't find confirmation. I'll try to get a hold of an article through more intensive searches later.
Truth in labeling
What happens when you have a really popular product with no official name? Well, you make up a name
