PMA
It's a very exciting time of the year for photo enthusiasts worldwide as the Photo Marketing Association's annual show is this week. We see big announcements from
camera manufacturers, especially in the digital arena, as the stage is set for the year to come. The following is taken from
Imaging Resource's ongoing PMA report. Some highlights:
- The Olympus E-system, above, has been formally announced. It is slated for a full spec release in June and availability
by fall. It features the 4/3 sensor with reduced lens sizes and costs in mind as an alternative to film-bodied DSLRs. This may well be
my next camera system. Oly's E-system home is here.
- Olympus also announced several new add-ons for its digital cameras, the FL-20 flash, the
TCON-17 (presumably 1.7x teleconverter) and WCON-07 (presumably 0.7x teleconverter).
- Canon introduces its EOS-10D, a replacement for the excellent
D60 camera. Now even cheaper. If the E-system doesn't pan out, I might be looking at one of these.
- Pentax announced its *ist digital consumer SLR. Interesting stuff ...
- IR posted up some sample Kodan Pro-14n images... yep, all 14 megapixels of glory.
Khaleid Shaikh Jeremy?
Okay, okay everyone probably has thought of this one already but I'll put it down for posterity:
SEPARATED AT BIRTH? Khalid Shaikh Mohammad and Ron Jeremy.
Originally from Luzsyd.
Speaking of Khalid, here's an interesting little piece on his capture
and the situation in Pakistan.
Hockey news
It's getting down to the home stretch in the NHL. The trade deadline, March 11, is fast approaching. And injuries
are really starting to take a toll on some teams, including some highly ranked ones.
Game fix
This is a pretty impressive online implementation of the classic arcade game Punch Out!.
Sounds and all. The M&C deluge continues:
- "Trouble Afoot" featuring the Taliban and al-Qaida in Afghanistan.
As Dr. Mikee put it, "Jingoist but fun."
- Ganguro Girl: I finally get around to posting this game that everyone and his brother has been searching our site for codes for.
It's a new, improved, ganguro version of SIMGirl.
- Wickwoo: Kind of a Jumpman/Lode Runner type of game.
Those crazy Japanese
That stuff going around about Japanese and their see-through skirts? Fake.
Decidedly so. Apparently some news outlets
were tricked, at least temporarily.
"I hate you ..."
Only Trekophiles and children of the 80s need apply: Remember that punk on the bus that Spock took out with the neck pinch in Star Trek IV? Read his whole story
here. Includes the complete lyrics to "I hate you," the song that
was blasting on his stereo! If you can appreciate that, you're okay in my book.
