Sorry for the lack of content last night, passsed out around 7PM, not really sure why.

Big Bone Lick

Yes, there really is a Big Bone Lick State Park in Northern Kentucky. Didn't take a picture of the sign on the side of I-75, but got this from the Cincinnati Museum.

Doggie nibble

Somehow I doubt that this was caused by Trazodone prescription. Check out the dogger who ate the owners lower lip here.

Killer beaver

You thought that the aforementioned dog was bad, how about a killer beaver.

R rated kiss of death

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Surveys found that increased pressure from parents' groups and politicians has successfully forced theaters to crack down on underage moviegoers. Although many younger teens wanted to see R-rated movies, most said they could not get tickets.

Such vigilance, the report said, hurt the box-office take of R-rated movies such as "The Mexican," "Tomcats" and "Freddy Got Fingered."

Ummmmm, I'd think it's more like these movies sucked and no self-respecting teen would see that crap. Hit up the full story here.

Netflix

Bought a subscription to Netflix. Intersting business model, monthly subscription fee, and as many dvds as you can watch, as long as it's max three at a time out. I'll comment on how cool of a concept this later.

Man, Emeril is so annoying.

Frozen nutsack

Ever wonder where the Icy Hot Stuntaz got they silly namez from? Maybe here. This page also contains a link to the "new" Icy Hot Stuntaz page, in case you miss their old Geocities page. Blame Tef.

NVIDIA goes for the biggest fish of all

Nvmainboard

It is very rare that I post something about a motherboard. But this is not just any board. It's the first-ever nVidia nForce chipset mainboard, the MSI MS-6367. With an integrated Geforce2 video chip, for once the term "integrated" isn't a dirty word. Comes with one of them newfangled nVidia audio chips (ala Xbox) too. This is a fairly scaled-down board with just 3 PCIs, so it's obviously aimed at OEMs, but it's packing a DDR architecture supposedly surpassing anything out there to date. Anyway, this model supports AMD Socket A chips.

With this new chipset, nVidia is squaring off against the big, bad Man himself: Intel. Things could get very interesting very soon. What's next, a nForce CPU?

Boozer bush may see slammer

Looks like poor lil' hottie Jenna Bush is in deeper trouble than originally thought:

But this wasn't Jenna's first time. She pleaded no contest to a charge of alcohol possession by a minor on May 16, making the Chuy's charge her second in less than a month. Now one Texas newspaper is reporting that this is the third time Jenna has run afoul of the law over alcohol, and could potentially put her in line for the slammer, thanks to the tough-on-booze policies her dad signed as governor.
I love it when the chickens come home to roost. Hit up the full story here.

Unlucky luck

Police are on the cybertrail of an Internet gambler who hit the jackpot at an online casino and now faces the consequences of Hawai'i's anti-gaming laws.

However, they say it'll take some high-tech sleuthing to track down the elusive and possibly fictitious winner of InterCasino's $176,688 Mega Jackpot, who has played under the online moniker "Moosed" since 1996.

It will be interesting to see how this one pans out. Hit up the full story here.

Hef habuts

Hugh Hefner is huffing about a report that suggests he doesn't actually have sex with his gaggle of gorgeous girlfriends.

The pipe-puffing Playboy founder's reputation is ridiculed in Philadelphia magazine's profile of indicted money manager Mark Yagalla, who had an affair with one of Hefner's former squeezes, Playmate Sandy Bentley.

Repli-splat

MP5 Spyder

Look closer. It's an MP5 all right, but what's with that grip? Looks like ... that's right ... a SPYDER! This place does some pretty damn slick merging of paintball guns with replicas of real military weaponry. He's got some really cool ones in there, too! Check out the Tommy gun based on an Automag, the M-16A1 based on an F4 Illustrator and the M60 based on a select-fire Rainmaker! No, they ain't cheap. If you dig around the site you might find an UZI and an L85, too.

Having a riot

A couple major media outlets got ahold of this story today, about a new game that puts you in the shoes of a (possibly WTO) rioter, throwing molotov cocktails and dodging rubber (paintballs) bullets. I think, though, that a crucial little detail left out in both of those stories is that the maker, Rockstar Games is actually a subsidiary of Take-Two interactive, the fine folk that brought you games like Grand Theft Auto. So such walks on the moral edge are far from a new thing for this company.

All-in-one drive redux

HP 9900ci

Someone is actually revisiting the idea of the combination DVD and CDR/RW drive. It's the HP 9900ci, and with a 32x/12x/10x and 8x DVD rating,The Reg sez it's pretty decent.

Pager R.I.P.

The original electronic leash first appeared as an annoying status symbol worn by affluent professionals in restaurants and theaters.

By the late 1980s, the little device truly chirped its way into the nation's collective conscious. Everyone from salesmen to children and drug dealers wore the cheap communications tool.

I still cling to mine. Okay maybe that's an unfortunate choice of words. Hit up the full story here. From Jui.

Go Internext

What's Internext? Well it's a convention, held in Las Vegas, for the adult-oriented Web industry.

SETI hack revisited

We haven't quite heard the end of the SETI@home hack story. This piece has got a little more detail than the previous ones, for those that care. From Jui.

Party on Saturday, see the members section for more details.

Got it finally

Finally secured me a copy of the anime The Elven Bride. To those who haven't seen it, you should because it is really funny stuff. Check out a review of it here.

Game 3 to Col

air catch

Game 3 today went to Col 3-1, giving Colorado a lead in the series two games to one. Check the story here.

NWA Worldclubs

Having just been airborne for about 25 hours this last week, the executive lounges are quite cool. I have a membership at NWA Worldclubs, spent a good amount of money for it, but it's still a good thing to buy. With stopovers in Minneapolis-St. Paul and Seattle, and one in Honolulu, I rank the Minneapolis-St. Paul lounge the best by far. Oh, and the Honolulu one sucks the big one. Makes layovers much more dealable. Now to take a few more trips this year, then I'll start getting first class upgrades.

Pot and such

Seems like some Dutch townspeople are fed up with Germans coming over the border to score some legal bud in the middle of town. So their solution? Open up coffee shops close to the border. Hit up the story here.

Mouse fun

Mouse LED

For Dino: I was wrong, there ARE tweakers who change the LED colors in their opti-mice. Goes right along with changing your floppy drive LED.

Swing that baby

Stickybaby

This is completely inane, but might keep you busy for a few minutes. Stickybaby is a little Web app that allows you to swing a baby around with wild abandon, all in the safety of your monitor. I suspect this might be more useful for parents out there, but anyway ...

Oh yeah, it requires the installation of VML rendering support for your browser.

Cheaper chips

Intel's slashing processor prices again. Maybe time for that GHz processor you've been eying?

Hollywood does rice

FF

Well, it was bound to happen, and frankly, I'm surprised it took this long. They're coming out with a rice racing movie. Based around the L.A. "street racing culture" (a.k.a. the Asians with no cultural context culture), The Fast and the Furious is everything you'd expect from a movie on the topic, complete with token Asians and domestic-car wreck scene.

Sexy religion

A GLOSSY magazine-style version of the Old Testament, featuring leading models pictured by the world's leading fashion photographers, will be unveiled later this year.

Claudia Schiffer and Markus Schenkenberg are the models expected to portray Eve and Adam in a project designed to attract young people who rarely read the bible.

Interesting idea, but equating New York with the Garden of Eden??? Hit up the full story here.

Northern pot

Here's a pretty good article on the latest moves in Canada to legalize it. Or at least decrim it.

Racer parts index

For you car guys out there: this is a pretty darn comprehensive collection of links to car parts manufacturers and distributors.

For you virus hoax suckers out there, and everyone else: I updated the links page with a link to a good virus hoax checking site.

The "Late Night" Edition

I was supposed to sleep early because of court tommorow. So much for that.

Ratburger

Swamp rat burgers anyone? Oh, excuse me, nutria burgers. Read all about it here.

Doc's nut

Before: Couldn't find an aircleaner wingnut to save my life.
Now: I just go and make one...

Bush babies imbibing

Thinking about all the hype surrounding the Bush kids getting busted drinking, are they any different from the rest of us? Hear one opinion of it here.
I guess the main difference is that we never got busted for it.

Rapsnacks

RapSnacks

I'm not really sure what to make of this. Rapsnacks is rap-themed munchies.

More SULFNBK

Apparently, this is a 'Net-wide problem. The thing I don't understand is that the hoax is pretty old (as evidenced by the multiple references I had no problems tracking down). The Reg doesn't even make mention of that.

SETI@home hacked?

Well word on the street is that SETI@home's user databases were compromised recently. SETI@home itself seems to confirm this. No word yet on any of my email accounts ...

Holy shmoly

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Southern California's ranking Lutheran bishop announced he would resign a month before his term ends for participating in the ordination of a non-celibate lesbian.

Admitting "ecclesiastical disobedience," Bishop Paul W. Egertson said Tuesday he would step down July 31. His six-year term ends Aug. 31; he had not been expected to seek re-election.

So THAT'S what Anita Hill has been doing these days! Hehe. Hit up the full story here.

Also from Salon's wire: Boozer Bush busted again.

The "Trickle Content" Edition

Since I can't find any real content, I'll start busting out some KY weirdness.

Stanley Cup game 2

brodure jacked

Nj went on to win today, 2-1 over Colorado. After Saturday's 5-0 drubbing, NJ is showing some backbone. Check out the game here.

Mitchel Town

hookaville

Went to White Castle

And I got thrown out. While not the fines burgers available. I could see why you'd crave one. They're about 3" square burgers with steamed, square buns. Onion chips are pretty cool. So next time you find yourself in Florence, KY, try one.

Goin' down

Ever wonder what the inside of a US nuclear missile silo looks like? Check it out here.

TUESDAY, 5/29/2001, 10:45am HST by Raul

And now back to your regularly-scheduled content.

For those of you who have received the SULFNBK.EXE virus warning, it's a HOAX! A HOAX, I say! HOAX! HOAX! HOAX!

Here's how to fix it if you've already screwed up and deleted it: Fix your fux0r. And here's some resources so you never get fux0red like that again: Educate yourself.

Hack it up

Hackin it

Now this is one of the coolest flash games I've seen in a while. Hackey Sack Jr., as you can imagine, is a hackey sack game. It's solo, and somewhat reminiscent of California Games (for you oldschoolers out there) albeit a bit simpler. The Newgrounds portal page for this game is here.

Cup happenings

Cup logo

Well, if you were sleeping under a rock this weekend, maybe you didn't know that Colorado thrashed New Jersey in game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals 5-0. NJ really has its work cut out for it now.

Casey Martin can ride

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Disabled golfer Casey Martin has a legal right to ride in a golf cart between shots at PGA Tour events, the Supreme Court said Tuesday.

In a 7-2 ruling with possible implications for other sports, the justices ruled that a federal disability-bias law requires the pro golf tour to waive its requirement that players walk the course during tournaments.

Fairly big news in professional sports. Hit up the full story here.

Handera formal review

Handera jog

Well PDAbuzz went ahead and got a formal Handera 330 review posted. Very very nice features, except for the all-important (to me) color screen.

Pr0n TA style

Check out this chick with big knockers.

Weiners

From Jui. Here's the Krater 96 Vegas winner list. See a "familiar" name in there?

Mass nakedity

MONTREAL (Reuters) -- More than 2,000 people posed naked in downtown Montreal for an American artist staging a nude group photo shoot authorized by local authorities.

New York-based Spencer Tunick, who specializes in taking shots of nude crowds in urban centers, had expected no more than 300 people to answer his call for volunteers for photographs that will be featured next month at Montreal's Museum of Contemporary Arts.

I need to get into this line of work! Hit up the full story here.

The little blue pill

LONDON -- Viagra, the anti-impotence drug that has improved the sex lives of men, also works for women, Italian sex researchers reported Sunday.
From Jui. Hit up the full story here.

Burnt bung

PARIS (Reuters) -- A man who tried to extinguish the "eternal flame" burning under the Arc de Triomphe by sitting on it has been treated in hospital for burns to his bottom.

The Paris daily Liberation said the unnamed prankster struck Sunday night and was promptly pulled off the illustrious flame, which honors the French who died during World War One.

The "Just Back" Edition

Just got back from KY today. Man, that was a lot of flying this week.

Shreking

Saw this movie this weekend. I recommend it, had a good story and lots of good jokes. It has enough complex jokes to see more than once. I suspect it's better then Pearl Harbor.

Bad bad tech support

Thought that only the State and City government was incompetent. This goes to prove that even in the private sector, hydrogen and stupidity are the universal elements.

FL madness continues

Stolen from Littlewhitedog.

More stuff from my trip coming up this week.
