Groovy
I haven't posted a piece of desktop hardware in a while. Drempels is a "psychotherapeutic screensaver
and desktop enhancer" that looks like swirling tie-die. Some variety and a good deal of customizability.
77 4 eva
On the night the Boston Bruins opened the 2001-2002 season, Ray Borque's number 77 was retired in a
pre-game ceremony that was graced by the presence of the Bruins' most famous players from the last few decades.
The Bruins rode the emotion to a 4-2 victory over Anaheim.
Can't Deny It
Here's the lyrics to that damn Fabolous song.
Sim 2 go
Well Sim City Classic for Palm has been out for a little while, further proving that a Palm is about equivalent to a 386 or or 486 desktop.
But recently, Sim City 2000 for PocketPC was released, showing that there are undeniable
benefits to the PocketPC platform.
Jah Rastafarissimo
From Gspot: Here's a page by Italian reggae artist Hobo. The sound is very Wailers-esque, but the
lyrics ... well, they're in Italian. Like nothing you've probably heard before.
E-10 CF
I'll be posting this as an addendum to the E-10 FAQ later. It's a listing of E-10 CF card compatibilities.

GSoHappy says that the cat video subtitles says something "I'm hypnotizing you".
ICQ neu
The 2001b version of ICQ is ready for testing. Be warned, it is an alpha release, so it might be buggy. Looks like they finally started to store your contacts on a remote server.
As a MS Messenger user, that was always my biggest complaint about ICQ, having to add everyone on a new install. Read about the new version here.
Get it straight from Mirabillis here.

Well, I STFW'd and found the Straight Dope on the candirú (the infamous penis fish).
Here's a followup Straight Dope with a translation of the Web page Penfold posted.
Boeuf
Hockey is probably the only professional sport in which you don't automatically get thrown out of the game for fighting.
In fact in most cases, it's a pair of cancelling 5-minute penalties. Hockey is fucking cool.
Where was I? Oh yeah, here is a page with oodles and oodles of hockey
fight video, just to satisfy the spectator in us all. My favorites are the goalie fights, they really swing. Must be all the extra pads -- they
have to get extra nuts to hurt the other guy! Check out the Patty Roy fights or the Salo vs. Cloutier fight for proof. Also, check out the two Scott Parker
fights towards the bottom of the page. I wonder if hockey announcers feel like boxing ring anouncers sometimes.
Rogue stuff
Remember Rodion Hererra? Well maybe not unless you were a die-hard Rainbow Six or Rogue Spear freak back in the day.
Rod was one of the first modders to post tutorials on the Web. Well he's god his own hosted
site now and it making custom maps, too. Cool.
Speaking of which, lately we've been playing with ARMM's NATO 3 mod,
which adds a bunch of guns and ammo, much in the style of their Nato 1 and 2 mods for Rainbow Six. The other night,
Gspot and I tried the Mint map for Rogue Spear, which was
put together by a Red Storm modeler that worked on the original Rainbow Six project. Unfortunately, it does not interact perfectly with
NATO 3, and we had to choose between see-through (and shoot-through) gratings, railings and bars in the Mint, and a see-through aiming reticle! Guess
which one we picked.
Star Wars Battlegrounds
For you RTS freaks ... check out the latest addition to the Lucasarts Star Wars franchise,
Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds.
Okay that's it for now, gotta wake up early tomorrow.

Ahhhh
It feels so good to come home, turn on the TV, and see wonderful hockey on again.
PSA FYI
Quite a useful little page for those who have the NTK. Even has some stranger ones like CERCLA and CINCPAC. WTF BFG AFAIK
Little fishies
A group of explorers in South America will wear condoms to stop fish swimming up their penises.
The New Zealand team plan to swim in the Amazon and don't want the small catfish in their bladders.
They might even look something like this (in Spanish I think, if you can translate it, enlighten me). Hit up the full story here.
GSoHappy says it's Portuguese. His guess is as good as mine. anyone here read Portuguese?

Web fix
I finally found a half-decent stash of Web-based hockey games.
Some are better than others, none are all that much like real hockey, but they are all certainly better than the crap I've posted before.
In the first game on the page, when you score on the goalie too much, he comes out and jacks you.
My picks for overall execution are the air hockey games, with "Goal 2 Goal" on top.
The closest thing to hockey is Coca Cola Ice Hockey.
The Bubble hockey simulation is actually pretty well-done, but kind of complex for a fast game.
Icebox alive!
Damn, how did I miss this?!?! Icebox.com was reborn in April!
I don't see a lot of new content yet (I could be wrong, but at least there's no new Mr. Wong) but the site is back and in effect.
Bullseye
Yet another Gspot Flash link ... Bullseyeart hosts one of the
best Flash cartoons I've seen in a while -- Makin' Moves. It's got everything fans of urban cultre could ever want -- sex, drugs and
hip-hop. Just check it out, will ya?
Overall quite a cool site, despite the obnoxious popup format. If the cartoon page doesn't automatically launch, you need to lanch
it from the page referenced above.
Funky Euroguns
Gspot continues to send along gun links, this time to Remtek,
a page on funky European military arms.
Safe
Gspot has an abnormal Flash fetish. Here's a page called Safe Places, which
houses some downright cool interactive visual/audio art pieces.
Plus there's a slick music video here as well. Well, the song's pretty good.
From NateSnake: For the Iolani folk in the audience, remember these monkeys?
Click on "about" ... Sorry, again, no direct links on Flash pages.

The rodent
Seems that Microsoft is releasing their first cordless, optical mouse. Since it's doesn't have a cord any more (read tail), it's called the hamster.
No, I'm not making this up, see for yourself here.
Hockey dollars
CHICAGO, Oct. 2 -- The NHL’s most expensive ticket is for the Dallas Stars, who move into the new American Airlines Center this season. Fans will pay an average of $75.91 per ticket.
Man, those are some pricey tickets. Hit up the full story here.

Chicken + penguin
= Chengwin! What is this about? I have no clue, really. It's a semi-artsy film series about
the adventures of a half-chicken/half-penguin in New York City.
It must be seen, not described.
Shoot em up
Gspot sends along this QTVR-ish shoot-em-up game.
I have to give the execution only a 6 out of 10 though.
Very similar, but a little more up with the times: Kill Osama,
a partially un-PC game that has you shooting Osama in a liquor store. I give this one 7.5 out of 10 for execution.
There is a funny touch in it that's worth a look.
Intel steps up?
Well Intel today announced its latest value-line processor ... the
1.2 ghz Celeron.
The jury has not even convened yet to figure out if it's any good, but it's got a .13 micron Tualatin-based core which ought to put it
quite a ways above previous Celerons.
A to the MF K
Ah yes, everything you always wanted to know about one of the most prolific military arms in the world,
the AK. Actually this site has all kinds of Kalashnikov info.
And here's a Russian Kalashnikov site.
E schwagibus stashus
What to do with all the leafy schwag? Bubble Bag it!
Along tangential lines: Better Sex Through Chemistry
Oh yeah, if you get a little postcard in the mail that has a stamp with two little peanut characters saying "WE'RE GOING NUTS TRYING TO REACH YOU" with
a message to call a number on the back site ... it is a scam, just like it looks.

Palm fiddlery
It was bound to happen, thank goodness it was Megasoft2K that did it ....
Megahockey is about the first real(-ish) hockey game for
Palm ever made. It's not really like a game, more like practice shooting, but the graphics are nice and the
gameplay is surprisingly addicting (if you are a hockey nut). Thing is, I don't know if I'd pay $15 for it -- that's
a lot to pay for ANY Palm app.
Also:
The idea of Pong for Palm is not all that inspiring -- unless you can play it head-to-head via the IR port!
Grab it here.
Note: It doesn't seem to work on my IIIc (fatal exception, soft reset needed) so use with caution. Probably just a IIIc issue.
Eness
I am not sure what to make of this site, but it is cool for sure. Electronic Miracles,
the homepage for Eness, a application development company,
takes advantage of Flash and Quicktime VR to do some truly unique stuff. The ideas and implementations herein are really original.
Just navigate around it a bit and see for yourself. Start by watering the plant.
Ghost reporting
Redstorm has gone live with its site for Ghost Recon,
a semi-sequel to Rogue Spear set in a European theatre war zone. Be sure to check out the screenshots and the movies.
Looks damn good.
Also, Redstorm has gone live with its Rogue Spear:Black Thorn site. However,
the latest word is that they have delayed the release of the game indefinitely due to the Sept. 11 attacks. They have apparently taken some flack
about this decision from RS fans, but their story is they need to rework some of the storylines to tiptoe around the sensitive issues left by the
tragedy. I wonder if there was a WTC-esque setting in there ...
Opticals
What's better than an optical sensor in a mouse? Two optical sensors in a mouse.
He was a redhead?
Here's someone's archived page of an eBay auction for Hitler's pubes.
Ew.
Tons of guns
Gspot sends along this link, with images of just about every firearm imaginable.
Above is a FN P90, a really unique bullpup SMG chambered in 5.7mm, a relatively new anti-armor pistol round. Looks
big, but it's actually really tiny. Gspot says he saw Ice T in a movie with two of these little gems.
While you're at it, check out Serbu manufacturing, makers of
some pretty damn tweaky weaponry.
Inviso
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) -- A heat-activated, antimicrobial gel under development, known as the "invisible condom," was able to prevent the transmission of
HIV and herpes when tested on cells in the laboratory, Canadian researchers report.
IMHO if the primary strength of the item is not preventing the transmission of babies, there seems to be
little justification for calling something a condom.
